Add teachers and assignments

Teacher assignments tell Schedull which staff member teaches each subject. Complete this step carefully for shared teachers, part-time teachers, and specialist staff because their availability often decides whether a timetable is possible.

Assignment workflow

Add each teacher once, then assign that teacher to every subject they teach. Avoid duplicate teacher names because they can hide workload conflicts.

  1. Create teacher records.

  2. Review names for duplicates.

  3. Assign teachers to subjects.

  4. Check teachers who work across several classes.

Common review points

A teacher with too many weekly sessions or too little availability can block generation. Review workload early, before adding many timing rules.

  • Part-time staff
  • Teachers shared across year groups
  • Specialist teachers with room needs
  • Department heads with fixed meetings

FAQ

What if a subject can be taught by more than one teacher?

Choose the assignment that reflects the real staffing decision for this timetable cycle. If staffing is undecided, resolve that before generation.
